Germany Unites for Global Climate Strike

A diverse coalition of organizations is calling on the people of Germany to join the global climate strike this Friday. According to Lisa Sagner, the coordinator of the alliance, over 100 demonstrations are planned nationwide, with major rallies expected in Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich.

Key groups such as Fridays for Future, Greenpeace, Attac, and BUND are spearheading the events, supported by numerous other organizations including Brot für die Welt and the German Cultural Council. The alliance criticizes the German government for promoting new fossil fuel projects instead of advancing climate protection.

Sagner highlights the absurdity of increased opposition to climate measures by parties like CDU/CSU and FDP, despite the growing visibility of the climate crisis. The coalition demands investments in attractive rail transport, affordable e-mobility in rural areas, and consistent energy-efficient building renovations.

These measures, Sagner argues, would not only enhance climate protection but also benefit socio-economically disadvantaged groups, thereby fostering social cohesion. The call to action is clear: join the movement to demand socially just climate protection and secure a sustainable future.
