Blinken: Israel Accepts Ceasefire Proposal - Hamas' Turn

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has described his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as 'constructive' and stated that Israel has accepted the ceasefire proposal. Blinken has urged Hamas to also agree to the compromise proposal, stating that it is an opportunity to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians caused by the Hamas attack in October.

The Hamas leadership has yet to respond to the proposal, with some members criticizing the US for acquiescing to Netanyahu's plans. The Israeli army has recovered the bodies of six hostages in Gaza, prompting calls from their families for a swift agreement with Hamas to prevent further casualties.

The negotiations are taking place in Doha and Cairo, with the US, Egypt, and Qatar acting as mediators. The conflict in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 people, with tens of thousands displaced.

US President Joe Biden has expressed support for a ceasefire and stated that an agreement is still possible. Despite the challenges, Blinken remains hopeful and is continuing his efforts to negotiate a ceasefire.
