A supermoon, larger and brighter, illuminated the sky around the world on Tuesday. It was also a blue moon, a rare phenomenon occurring three or four times a year.

The next supermoon will coincide with a partial lunar eclipse on September 18, followed by October 17, which will be the closest of the year, and November 15. This supermoon was visible in many cities, including Istanbul, Copenhagen, Allaman, Berlin, Madrid, Paris, Antwerp, and Nicosia, and could be observed until Wednesday morning.

According to NASA, the rare super blue moon occurs about every 10-20 years, and the next seasonal blue supermoon will be on October 31, 2023. August's supermoon is the first of four lunar spectacles in 2024, with September's featuring a partial lunar eclipse and October's being the year's closest approach.

The series will conclude with November's supermoon. Supermoons occur when a full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to Earth, making it appear slightly larger.

The term 'supermoon' is more popular than scientific, and these events typically happen only three or four times a year.

The Supermoon Illuminated the Skies Across the World

Politics
The full supermoon this year illuminated the night skies across the world. In some areas, the supermoon, also known as the 'blue moon', turned red due to the smoke from the wildfires in North America. The smoke particles caused the light passing through the atmosphere to appear in shades of orange and red.

The 'Blue Moon' over Berlin - How fascinating the phenomenon was

The 'Blue Supermoon' over Berlin was a rare phenomenon, where the full moon appeared larger and brighter than usual. The term 'Blue Moon' describes full moons when there are four instead of three full moons in a season; this happens about every two and a half years. The moon came particularly close to the Earth on August 19, which made the full moon strikingly large and bright.
