Multiple Large Wildfires Ravage Turkey and Portugal

Wildfires have been wreaking havoc in Turkey and Portugal, posing a significant threat to communities and natural landscapes. In Turkey, the Yatagan and Ula areas have been particularly affected, with more than 130 wildfires reported in the past week.

The fires have been exacerbated by low humidity, strong winds, and high temperatures, increasing the risk of forest fires by 70%. Over 300 personnel, including firefighters, have been tirelessly battling the flames.

In Portugal, the island of Madeira is also grappling with a raging fire that has forced the evacuation of residents in Ribeira Brava. The fire, which has been burning for five days, has reached population centers and has three active fronts.

Firefighters, along with special forces and support from the Civil Protection services, are striving to contain the blaze. The challenging weather conditions have further complicated firefighting efforts in Spain and Greece, where large forest fires have caused widespread destruction and prompted evacuations.
