The Palestinian Civil Defense reported the attack occurred without prior warning. The Israeli military stated the strike aimed at a Hamas commander involved in terrorist activities.
They acknowledged awareness of civilian casualties but emphasized their target's militant role. Additional airstrikes in Gaza resulted in more fatalities, including five people at a school-turned-refugee shelter and another five in the northwest of the city.
Further south, three individuals were killed in the Al-Mawasi area, where many displaced Palestinians had sought refuge. The conflict, ongoing for eleven months, was triggered by a Hamas attack on Israel that killed over 1,200 people and led to the abduction of 251 others.
In response, Israel launched extensive military operations in Gaza, resulting in over 41,100 Palestinian deaths, according to unverified Hamas figures. The Israeli military also admitted a high probability that a November airstrike mistakenly killed three Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
