Imminent Strikes in Fast Food Chains Over Wage Dispute

Employees of major fast food chains like McDonald's, Burger King, and Starbucks are gearing up for warning strikes following stalled wage negotiations. The labor union NGG demands a starting wage of 15 euros per hour and an additional 500 euros per month for the 120,000 workers in the system catering industry.

These demands come in the wake of significant price increases and a perceived need for substantial wage adjustments. However, employers, represented by the Federal Association of System Gastronomy (BdS), have rejected these demands, citing a drop in guest numbers, economic uncertainties, and a deteriorating business climate as reasons for their stance.

BdS Managing Director Markus Suchert has called for more constructive proposals from the NGG. As both sides remain steadfast in their positions, further negotiations are scheduled for November.

Meanwhile, the NGG's call for strikes signals a pressing need for resolution in this sector. The outcome of these negotiations and the planned strikes could have significant implications for the fast food industry and its workforce.
