EU to Reduce Anti-dumping Duties on Electric Cars from China

The European Commission plans to slightly reduce anti-dumping duties on electric cars produced in China by Tesla, Geely, and others. The final tariffs must be decided by EU Member States, where a qualified majority can vote against them.

China has signaled a willingness to reduce tensions. Spain's Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, is seeking a compromise between China and the EU on the additional tariffs.

The EU accuses Chinese manufacturers of benefiting from state subsidies and evading standard import tariffs. In response, China has launched investigations into EU pork imports, which would affect Spain as the largest exporter.

The decision on the tariffs will be made in October.
