Call for Nighttime Driving Ban on Lawn Robots to Protect Wildlife

Animal rights activists, led by Corinna Hölzel from BUND, advocate for a ban on nighttime operations of lawn robots to safeguard wild bees, butterflies, and beetles' vital food sources. The use of these robots has led to a decline in biodiversity and resulted in severe cutting injuries to hedgehogs, with a mortality rate of nearly 50%.

Municipalities have already implemented bans, with a major city contemplating similar measures. The sharp blades of the robots pose a silent danger to hedgehogs, which lack protection from their spiky coats.

Researchers emphasize the urgent need for restrictions to prevent further harm to wildlife populations.
