Forest Fires in Germany: High Danger and Concerns

Forest fires have been breaking out in several regions of Germany, causing high concern and posing a significant danger. In Luckenwalde, Brandenburg, the fire brigade is worried about the strong winds exacerbating the situation.

The German Weather Service has declared a very high forest fire danger in Brandenburg and Berlin due to dry ground and wind. The regional control center is providing hazard information, and the ministry has identified districts with the highest danger levels.

In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the forest fire danger is at its highest level, with a strict ban on fireworks from level four onwards. The Brocken, a mountain in the Harz region, has experienced multiple forest fires, leading to the cancellation of steam train operations and the closure of the Brockenbahn route.

Sachsen-Anhalt has also been affected by forest fires, including one near the Brocken. The fires have prompted the deployment of firefighting aircraft, helicopters, and fire brigades.

In Saxony, a fire caused by an illegal campfire was quickly contained in the Sächsische Schweiz National Park. The ongoing heatwave, dry conditions, and high temperatures have contributed to the increased forest fire danger across Germany.
