Call for 20 Billion Euros Housing Stimulus Program by IG BAU and Tenants' Association

IG BAU and the Tenants' Association are urging for a Housing Stimulus Program with an annual budget of 20 billion Euros. The plan allocates 13 billion Euros for 100,000 social housing units, and 3.5 billion Euros each for condominiums and 40,000 affordable housing units.

To fund this initiative, they propose cracking down on tax evasion, which deprives the federal government of 30-50 billion Euros annually. The initiative, aimed at tackling housing shortages and boosting the economy, is championed by IG BAU chairman Robert Feiger, stressing the necessity for a 'housing construction offensive.' Tenants' Association president Lukas Siebenkotten emphasizes the urgency of immediate implementation rather than mere promises in political campaigns.

The focus lies on addressing the pressing need for affordable housing and combating the housing crisis, with warnings from the Pestel Institute about a potential wave of bankruptcies in the construction industry.
