In Germany, damages caused by cyber attacks increased by 50% in 2022, reaching 180 million euros. There were a total of 4,000 reported attacks, a 19% increase from the previous year.

The average cyber damage was 45,370 euros, 8% higher than the previous year. Additionally, more than two-thirds of surveyed companies did not meet basic IT security requirements.

Meanwhile, organized crime in Germany reached a new high, causing record damages of 2.7 billion euros in 2023. Cybercrime, tax and customs offenses, drug trafficking, and human smuggling were the main drivers. It is worth noting that 57.8% of the suspects were foreign nationals, highlighting the need for effective law enforcement measures, including deportations.

The Union criticized the government's refusal to store IP addresses, arguing that it ultimately protects only the criminals. It is clear that insurance companies are facing a growing number of cyber attacks and must emphasize effective protection measures.

The damages caused by organized crime are a significant concern and require increased prevention efforts. Law enforcement agencies, including the BKA, Bundespolizei, and Zoll, are actively working on these cases.
