Sailing yacht catches fire in the North Sea - and sinks

A sailing yacht caught fire and sank in the North Sea near the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm. The size of the crew is unknown, and despite the efforts of German and Dutch sea rescue forces, including ships, helicopters, and aircraft, the search for survivors was unsuccessful.

The name of the ship is known but common. The incident occurred in the German-Dutch border area.

It is believed that the shipwrecked individuals could have been found if they had been wearing life jackets. Another similar incident involved a luxury yacht off the coast of Sicily, leading to investigations against the captain, sailors, and mechanics.

In a separate incident near Australia, two shipwrecked individuals were rescued from a sinking yacht in rough seas. In the North Sea, the recovery of the sunken freighter 'Verity' after a collision with the 'Polesie' has been completed, with five crew members losing their lives and two being rescued.

The wreckage was salvaged using a floating crane and will be disposed of. Cleanup efforts are underway, with debris being removed from the seabed.
