Venezuelan Opposition Leader González Wanted on Arrest Warrant - In Hiding for a Month

An arrest warrant has been issued for opposition leader González in Venezuela, charging him with usurpation of authority and sabotage. His whereabouts are unknown, having been last seen publicly on July 30. The opposition claims electoral victory for González, which has been recognized by the US and other countries.

However, the loyalist electoral authority declared Maduro the winner, leading the opposition to accuse the government of electoral fraud. Not only González, but also self-declared interim president Guaidó, has an arrest warrant issued against him.

In addition, due to sanctions violations, US authorities have seized a Dassault Falcon 900EX aircraft belonging to Maduro. The dire situation in Venezuela is evident, with over 80 percent of the population living below the poverty line and more than 7 million people having left the country.
