Public Transport: No Line Closures Planned for Next Year

Despite increasing costs and financial challenges, most German states have announced that they will not be reducing their public transport services in the coming year. However, Schleswig-Holstein has announced cuts, and Niedersachsen is considering reductions.

The Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg is unable to rule out cuts, and Thüringen and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are expressing concerns about finances. Bayern, while not planning any service reductions, acknowledges the challenges posed by the Germany ticket.

The Nordrhein-Westfalen rail service is secured until the end of 2025, but thereafter, problems may arise. Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz, and Sachsen-Anhalt do not plan any cuts.

Hamburg, though not directly affected, is indirectly impacted by the reductions made by neighboring states. The transport ministers have announced an increase in the price of the Germany ticket for the upcoming year.

Bayern, although not planning any reductions, must make significant financial adjustments if more federal funds are not provided.
