Former New York Deputy Governor Linda Sun is accused of being a Chinese agent in her $30 million home. It is alleged that she blocked Taiwan government's requests to meet with high-level New York bureaucrats and interfered with statements about China.
Her husband Chris Hu is accused of bank fraud, money laundering, and identity theft. Sun had resigned from her position in March 2023. Governor Kathy Hochul's office stated that Sun was hired years ago and her employment was terminated when her misuse of office was discovered.
The FBI raided the couple's home in July 2024. The Brooklyn District Attorney's office said the couple will be arraigned in court the same day after processing at the police station. Federal Prosecutor Breon Peace stated that Sun worked for the interests of the Chinese government.
Sun's lawyer Seth DuCharme declined to answer questions.
