Ukraine War Update: F-16 Crash and Increasing Battles at the Front

Image courtesy of : AFP (HANDOUT)

Just weeks after the arrival of F-16 fighter jets in Ukraine, one of the planes crashes, sparking speculation of 'friendly fire' or technical malfunction. The incident is seen as an opportunity for the Russian media to express 'schadenfreude', as the Kremlin fears the use of F-16s over Russian territory.

The number of clashes at the front has increased to over 200 within one day, with the fiercest fighting reported in the Pokrowsk area. Ukrainian forces have also launched drone attacks on Russian territory, with reports of shoot-downs and possible targets including a former Volkswagen plant and an oil depot.

Russian air strikes have hit a Ukrainian factory, resulting in a fire and several injuries. The Ukrainian Air Force intercepts and destroys 12 Russian drones, but acknowledges that it cannot intercept all of them.

The Ukrainian brigade showcases impressive photos of perfectly camouflaged snipers. The Ukrainian President urges the US to lift restrictions on the use of long-range weapons against Russia.

Amidst the ongoing conflict, President Putin plans to visit Mongolia, despite an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. The Russian oil giant Rosneft reports increased profits, despite sanctions imposed by European countries.

The situation in Ukraine remains tenuous, with battles intensifying and the need for air defense systems and military aid urgent.
