War against Ukraine: Zelenskyy remembers fallen soldiers

Since the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the start of the conflict in the Donbass, Ukraine has been offering determined military resistance against Russia's invasion in 2022. On a memorial day, Zelenskyy honors the fallen soldiers with orders and housing vouchers for the bereaved.

The exact number of casualties is unknown, but Zelenskyy mentioned 31,000. In addition, Ukrainians commemorate the military defeat in Ilowajsk in 2014, with memorial events held in Kiew and Ilowajsk.

The war in the east of Ukraine is not going well for Kiew, as Russian troops advance and Ukrainian forces are forced to retreat. Cities like Awdijiwka, Tschassiw Jar, Torezk, and Pokrowsk are under threat.

Kiew lacks soldiers and equipment, with its best forces engaged in the Kursk offensive. The Russian offensive gains momentum, supported by glide bomb attacks, drones, and mines.

Despite some successes by commando soldiers, the Ukrainian front is at risk of breaking, with the capture of Pokrowsk endangering the entire supply chain for the Ukrainian Donbass front.
