Traffic Light Coalition Tightens Measures After Solingen Attack

Following the Solingen attack, the Traffic Light Coalition is planning to implement stricter measures. Dublin refugees are set to receive only benefits in kind, and benefit cuts for certain refugee groups are also being considered.

Representatives from the SPD and FDP, including Lars Klingbeil and Christian Lindner, have commented on these plans. Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner is calling for minimal benefits for Dublin refugees.

The proposed measures include lowering the deportation threshold, addressing violence-prone Islamism, and tightening gun laws. Union faction leader Friedrich Merz has presented a list of demands to Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who will receive him.

A larger working group with representatives from both the Union and SPD, as well as other federal ministries, will now define the measures instead of the initially proposed two-person team. The Solingen attack has led to discussions on various measures such as deportations, benefit cuts, border controls, and stronger measures against hate preachers.

The aim is to improve security in Germany and address the issue of illegal migration and radicalization.
