Major Operation Against Forest Fire on the Adriatic Coast Again

A large forest fire near the tourist hotspot of Split burned 700 hectares of vegetation, including an olive grove. Three firefighters were injured and a fire truck burned out.

In a 24-hour operation, five firefighting planes and 450 firefighters battled the blaze. A country road was closed as smoldering embers threatened to start new fires.

The local newspaper reported on the incident, and endangered houses were protected. This firefighting effort comes as the Mediterranean region faces climate crisis impacts, with countries like Bulgaria, Greece, and North Macedonia also battling wildfires.

In another incident near Tropical Islands in Brandenburg, a forest fire was successfully brought under control by 120 firefighters and 25 vehicles. The fire affected three hectares of forest, but no injuries were reported.

As the summer temperatures rise, the risk of wildfires continues to be a concern across the region.
