Russia Launches Second Night of Heavy Air Strikes on Ukraine

Russia has launched a second night of heavy air strikes on Ukraine, resulting in at least four deaths and numerous injuries. The Ukrainian air defense intercepted some of the missiles and drones, but several hypersonic missiles were not stopped.

The attacks targeted energy infrastructure and caused power outages. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief, Rafael Grossi, visited a nuclear power plant in the Russian region of Kursk to assess the situation.

The Ukraine-Kursk offensive continues, with Ukraine now controlling over 1,294 square kilometers and capturing more than 100 settlements. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to respond to the attacks, and has called for assistance from Western allies, including the use of F-16 fighter jets.

The situation in the border region of Belgorod remains tense, with reports of Ukrainian attempts to breach the border. The attacks on Ukraine come as Russia continues its offensive in the eastern region, capturing the village of Orliwka near the strategic city of Pokrovsk.

The conflict shows no signs of abating, and concerns about the safety of nuclear power plants in the region persist.
