Keir Starmer, the UK Prime Minister, will deliver a speech in which he promises to reverse a decade of decline and root out 14 years of rot left by the Conservatives. He will address the economic and societal black holes that the Labour administration is tackling, warning that things may get worse before they get better.

Starmer will emphasize the need to fix the foundations of the country and put the people first. He will also criticize the winter fuel payment cuts for pensioners and face pressure to end the two-child benefit cap.

In addition, Starmer plans to extend the £1bn household support fund. The speech comes amid accusations of cronyism and a cancellation of a £40m helicopter contract used by former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Starmer aims to rebuild trust in politics and deliver a government of public service.
