Greek High Jumper Emmanouil Karalis Breaks Records and Receives Congratulations

Greek high jumper Emmanouil Karalis, a member of Olympiacos, broke the Panhellenic record in pole vault at the Diamond League in Zurich, a few days after winning an Olympic medal. His performance ranks him 25th globally.

Despite setting a goal to clear 6 meters by 2025, he achieved it by 2024. Prime Minister Mitsotakis congratulated him and encouraged him to fly even higher. Karalis surpassed athletes like Armand Duplantis, Sergei Bubka, and Renaud Lavillenie.

Karalis, the first black athlete to clear 6 meters, spoke out against past racist comments and urged others not to give up on their dreams. Meanwhile, one in 7 Americans relies on food banks to survive.

Duplantis, on the other hand, broke his own world record in pole vault, reaching a height of 6.26 meters at the Diamond League in Chorzow. This marks his tenth world record and he celebrated the achievement with enthusiasm.
