Robert F Kennedy Jr, an independent US presidential candidate and son of the late Democratic politician and US attorney general Robert F Kennedy and nephew of the late President John F Kennedy, has withdrawn from the Arizona ballot.
His campaign had discussed a potential deal with Republican rival Donald Trump, who said he would be open to Kennedy playing a role in his administration if Kennedy dropped out and endorsed him. Kennedy's withdrawal was filed along with his vice-presidential running mate Nicole Shanahan and 11 of his presidential electors, as confirmed by Arizona secretary of state Adrian Fontes.
Kennedy had started his presidential campaign as a Democrat, challenging President Joe Biden for the nomination.
