France: Macron Holds Consultations for New Government

After the parliamentary election in France, President Macron is holding talks to form a government as none of the parties obtained an absolute majority. Macron accepted the resignation of his Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, but has yet to appoint a successor.

The left-wing alliance Nouveau Front Populaire is calling for the rapid nomination of a new Prime Minister. Macron is also consulting with right-wing nationalists and the leaders of the two parliamentary chambers.

The political stalemate in the country since the election has led to challenges in forming a stable government. Macron is seeking a broad majority to ensure a functioning government, but the positions of the different parties are difficult to reconcile.

The consultations with various political blocs, including NFP, centrist and conservative parties, aim to find a way forward. Macron's choice for Prime Minister will be crucial in determining the direction of his government and his own political future.

Meanwhile, in Belgium, King Philippe is beginning a new round of consultations with political parties to form a government, after the previous attempt failed.
