Boeing Faces Inspection Orders and Test Flight Suspensions Amidst Safety Concerns

Following reported incidents of sudden descent due to pilot seat movement, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered inspections of all 787 Dreamliners, including 158 US-registered and 737 worldwide. These inspections come after an incident in March that resulted in over 50 injuries.

Two cases are still under investigation. Additionally, test flights for the 777X have been suspended due to a defective component and rips found in other 777-9 test aircraft.

The FAA has been informed about these issues. The 777X, which was originally planned for 2020, is now scheduled for service no earlier than 2025. These safety concerns add to Boeing's ongoing challenges, following the grounding of the 737 Max models after two crashes in 2018 and 2019. The delays in the development and certification of the 777X have also resulted in significant financial losses for the company.

Boeing is currently replacing the faulty components and working towards addressing the unsafe conditions highlighted by the inspections.
