The Left and the Traffic Light Coalition: Missed Opportunities and Uncertain Future

The co-chairs of The Left, Wissler and Schirdewan, are stepping down to prepare the party for the future. An 'ideas competition on the future of the party' is to take place at the party conference in October.

Schirdewan rejects criticism of the personnel discussions and calls for fewer internal disputes. The Left wants to continue supporting people in eastern Germany and is confident that Bodo Ramelow will remain Minister-President in Thuringia.

However, the party did not make enough use of the 'warning shot of the European elections' and did not exert enough pressure on the federal government. Grünen-Chef Nouripour sees the Traffic Light coalition as a transitional model after the Merkel era and believes it has reached its limits due to internal disagreements and lack of trust.

He does not rule out collaboration with Sahra Wagenknecht's alliance at the state level. The future of the coalition and the upcoming federal election remain uncertain, with Nouripour emphasizing the differences between the Greens and the BSW.

Goals related to the functionality of the railway and the future of schools are not being adequately implemented in the coalition, according to Nouripour.
