Indonesia celebrated its 79th Independence Day with various events, including flag-raising ceremonies and state of the nation addresses. President Joko Widodo wore traditional attire from East Kalimantan, while Vice President Ma'ruf Amin wore attire from West Kalimantan.

The celebrations took place in both Jakarta and the under-construction capital of Nusantara. The Nusantara project, aimed at being a sustainable and high-tech city, faced challenges such as construction delays and funding shortages.

The ceremony in Nusantara was scaled-back due to these challenges. President-elect Prabowo Subianto promised to continue the Nusantara project.

Various government officials and institutions supported the celebrations, including the TelkomGroup, Ceria Group, and PT PLN (Persero). However, there were also criticisms, with activists from Greenpeace questioning the project's environmental impact and Amnesty International claiming that development under President Jokowi was superficial and elitist.

Despite the challenges, the Independence Day celebrations highlighted the achievements of Indonesia in the past 10 years and the commitment to progress and unity in the future.
