Polls show Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race, with Harris up 3 points in the latest Morning Consult poll. Harris also leads in other surveys, including Reuters/Ipsos and YouGov/Economist, though Trump leads in some other polls.
Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is also on the ballot in some polls. The Biden-Trump debate in June was considered disastrous for Biden, leading to increased voter engagement.
Trump campaign pollster Tony Fabrizio predicted a 'Harris Honeymoon' boost in polls for Harris after entering the race. Harris leads Trump in the key battleground states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada, while Trump leads in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, and the two are tied in Georgia.
Voters are more enthusiastic about Harris than they were about Biden, and 56% of voters polled by Reuters/Ipsos said Harris was 'mentally sharp and able to deal with challenges', compared to 49% for Trump and 22% for Biden.
A majority of Americans also agreed with Biden's decision to end his campaign. Voters are split on whether Harris' gender and race will help or hurt her, and her favorability rating has increased to 43%, from 35% in the previous poll.
