Iran has rejected calls from Western countries to refrain from retaliation for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. British Prime Minister Starmer called on Iranian President Pezeshkian to stop making military attack threats, but Pezeshkian defended it as a way to stop the crimes committed.

US National Security Advisor Kirby warned that Iran could carry out major attacks in the Middle East. The leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany also called on Iran to avoid attacks that would further escalate regional tensions.

Haniyeh was killed in Iran after attending the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Pezeshkian.
