Fire in Attica: Battle with reignitions and scattered hotspots

Multiple hotspots continue to reignite in the ongoing battle against the fire in Attica, with areas including Varnava, Marathon, Nea Makri, Ano Souli Marathon, and Penteli affected. Tragically, a woman lost her life in a commercial building fire in Patima Chalandriou. Two minors were arrested for causing a fire in Glyfada. The Athens Observatory faced a reignition near the satellite image reception antenna. In Vrilissia, a woman's house burned, but she was saved by a firefighter. International firefighting reinforcements are being sent from France, Italy, Czech Republic, Serbia, Romania, and Turkey. Additionally, wildfires have been raging in the suburbs of Athens, resulting in evacuations and threatening homes, businesses, and schools. These wildfires follow a period of extreme heat in June and July, and smoke from the fires has reached the city. Efforts to combat the fires are ongoing, but challenges remain due to drought and winds.
