Israel threatens Sinwar after his appointment as new Hamas leader with death

Israel has threatened the new leader of the Palestinian organization Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, with death following his appointment as the successor to Ismail Hanija, who was killed in Iran. Sinwar is believed to be the mastermind behind the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, which makes him one of the most wanted leaders of the organization.

Israel has been taking military action against targets in the Gaza Strip since the attack, and international efforts are underway to prevent an expected retaliatory attack by Iran and its allies. The appointment of Khalil al-Haya as the new Hamas negotiator for a possible ceasefire has also been announced.

Meanwhile, the number of antisemitic incidents and crimes has increased in Germany, with the Federal Criminal Police Office recording 715 antisemitic crimes in the second quarter of this year. German security authorities are on high alert due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
