Judge Orders Pedro Sánchez to Testify at La Moncloa Amid Corruption Allegations

Judge Juan Carlos Peinado of the Court of Instruction 41 in Madrid rejects Pedro Sánchez's request to provide a written statement, instead summoning him to appear in person at La Moncloa on July 30. The investigation focuses on the professional ties of Sánchez's wife, Begoña Gómez, with businessmen who obtained public contracts.

The temporary replacement judge, Carlos Valle y Muñoz-Torrero, emphasizes the distinction in the Criminal Procedure Law regarding witnesses' knowledge of the facts. Sánchez is compelled to testify in the corruption case against his wife, who is accused of misusing her position.
