Pro-Palestinian Protests in Washington, DC

Pro-Palestinian activists gathered in Washington, DC to protest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the United States and his address to Congress. Demonstrators from Jewish Voice For Peace expressed their opposition to the war in Gaza, and some were taken into custody during their protest at the Canon House Building.

Protests also took place outside the White House as Netanyahu met with President Joe Biden. The Israel-Hamas war, which has been ongoing for nearly ten months, served as a backdrop to these demonstrations.

Additionally, National Park Service workers had to remove flags from Union Station due to the protests. In a separate development, Israeli forces retrieved the remains of five Israelis who were killed during a Hamas attack and whose bodies had been taken to the Gaza Strip.

President Biden also met with Netanyahu in the Oval Office to discuss US-Israeli diplomacy and politics. In the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Israeli bulldozers demolished a Palestinian home under construction, highlighting the challenges Palestinians face in obtaining building permits from the Israeli military authorities.
