After Forest Fire in Northeastern Canada: Those Affected by Evacuation Can Return

A forest fire in northeast Canada forced over 9,000 people to evacuate, but now it is under control, allowing some of them to return to Labrador City and Wabush. In the west, British Columbia is facing over 320 fires, with thousands on alert.

In Alberta, more than 5,000 indigenous people have been evacuated. The Environment Ministry warns of increased air pollution in Edmonton due to smoke.

Last year, Canada experienced its worst forest fire season, with over 15 million hectares burned and eight firefighters killed. In the Pacific Northwest, there is a critical fire risk due to a heatwave, strong winds, and lightning.

Over 400,000 acres have burned in Oregon, with millions of people under red flag and extreme heat warnings. Major fires, such as Falls, Cow Valley, Lone Rock, and Durkee, are burning, and thousands are under evacuation orders and warnings.

The next 36 hours are expected to be extremely challenging, according to the Oregon Fire Marshal.
